Don't get me wrong the challenges are for the most part fun, and do generally help improve your flying skills. Not all of them are available when you load the sim, many need to be unlocked by completing challenges. There is a catch, and its a major oversight in my opinion. In fact all prior paid expansion packs are included in RF8. I connect my Taranis vai the USB port and it works fine.ДЄnother nice think about RF8 is that the add on models and flying sites are no longer paid expansion packs. Interlink controllers still work, and they have profile of sorts already mapped so it saves you a step. Generally what shows up in other sims, shows up in RF8. I have not used SmartPropoPlus in years so I can say for sure.

You just need some way to connect your transmitter, in a way that your PC sees it as a controller. The great thing about RF8 is that there is nothing proprietary in any way any longer. There is an odd sense of the camera, but I don't think that gets in the way, and since you tried it you have already experienced it and still want more To me it feels about the same to real life as if you pick up a plan you haven't flown in a bit, its familiar but just a bit different and you readjust to flying it. When people say updates to this cost money, what does that mean? Are we talking about bugfix/patches, or simply extra content packs that cost money?.

Do I have to purchase the InterLink controller or other proprietary hardware to fly this? Other sims pick up my DXe through the audio trainer cable just fine (I'm using SmartPropoPlus to have it appear as a joystick controller in Windows).

What is your experience with the physics? Does it seem to match closely what you experience at the field?

When demoing it, this felt fairly real, kind of like my plane flies.

Can someone help me answer some questions about this product? I'm considering getting this as a simulator, but when I saw it in the LHS the sales person did not have the answers to a few of these.

Perhaps it will be rewritten for the newer hardware and actually use FPV goggles and real video instead of head-mounted TV.ДЄs it is, its a nice video game, but it aint real FPV. youвЂ™ld just have to try/adapt, or whatever.Д«ottom line is that RF seems REALLY OLD. like using real video camera pointing at screen, but the problem here is the lag time which may or may not be a problem. If you are just playing a video game, ok (so what are you doing in this forum, anyway. I dont really see any need for Oculas 3D/VR eyeware in this application.

It also runs on either MAC or Windows (or Linux) and has free upgrades! It is equal or superior graphically to RF, uses actual RC TXs, and can render either LOS or FPV simulation without any lag.
